Profile/History

Central Food Packers is one of Jamaica’s leading exporters of canned, bottled and baked foods distributing to the United Kingdom, North America and the Caribbean. The company began operations in 1985 and has differentiated itself through the quality and authenticity of its products. Our Sunrite brand enjoys a unique niche within the agro processing industry. All ingredients used are grown and ripened by the brilliant Jamaican sun, which ultimately makes our products ‘Just Rite’.

Our first product line was canned ackees, which was produced to fill the demand overseas for Jamaica’s national dish. As we continue to expand and increase our product range today, we produce a total of eighteen (18) products in truly authentic Jamaican Sunrite style.

The company remains focused on diversifying into other markets to introduce our Jamaican flavour to the world. Our commitment to excellence through the implementation of world class food safety and quality systems will ensure our customers always receive first-class products manufactured to satisfy every palate locally and internationally.

The company invests in the training and development of its employees and prides itself on promoting environmental awareness and responsible behavior in its quest to achieve competitive advantage and customer satisfaction.

Corporate Responsiblity

Central Food Packers is committed to Jamaica’s socio-economic development and is instrumental in community development in Central Village, St Catherine, Jamaica. The company works closely with civic organizations to contribute to growth in many areas during its 41 years’ existence.

Over the years, Central Food Packers has provided a sustained market for farmers/suppliers and employment for Jamaicans. Members of the Central Village community have particularly benefited as 95% of the company’s employees are from the community.

Environmental Policy Statement

Central Food Packers Limited (CFPL) is an agro-processing company that manufactures canned, bottled and baked foods. The company has implemented a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system which compliments its Environmental Management System (EMS) aimed at enhancing entrepreneurial performance and operational practices.

Implementation of these systems, demonstrates our strong corporate commitment to ensuring that our agro-processing activities are carried out in an environmentally sound and controlled manner and signals our intention to become market leader in the food processing industry in Jamaica.

CFPL ensures that it operates in an environmentally sound manner by:

1) Implementing and continuously improving an ISO 14001 environmental management system

2) Ensuring compliance with the environmental policy through regular monitoring and auditing of the company’s environmental performance

3) Reviewing and complying with the requirements of relevant national legislation and regulations

4) Implementing measures to minimize any negative impact of the company’s operations on the environment.

5) Exposing employees to regular programmes of education and training to develop environmental awareness and responsible behaviour

6) Communicating our environmental management policy and actions to employees and making this information available to the public.

7) Ensuring that our suppliers and waste contractors comply with established environmental guidelines
